Terms of Service

Last updated: 18 July 2026

These terms cover your use of LockPDF ("the service"). By using the service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

What the service is

LockPDF is a free, browser-based tool that helps you find and redact sensitive information (like emails, phone numbers, IBANs, and national ID numbers) in PDF files. All processing happens locally in your browser — the service does not receive or store your documents.

No warranty

The service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. In particular, the automatic detection features are pattern-based (regular expressions) and are not guaranteed to find every instance of sensitive information in a document. You are responsible for reviewing the detected items and the final redacted PDF before sharing it with anyone. Always verify sensitive documents yourself before distributing them — treat this tool as an aid, not a substitute for your own judgment.

Your responsibility

You're responsible for the documents you process and for how you use the output. Don't use the service for any unlawful purpose, and don't rely on it as your sole safeguard for legally or contractually sensitive redaction requirements without independent verification.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, LockPDF and its operators are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service, including damages resulting from sensitive information that was not detected or redacted.

Changes

These terms may be updated as the service evolves (for example, if paid plans or accounts are introduced in the future). Continued use of the service after changes means you accept the updated terms.
